What is the J1 visa?

The J-1 Exchange Visitor Programme was established in 1961 by the US government. The purpose is to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries through educational and cultural exchanges.

The J-1 Trainee and Internship Programmes provide international participants with a hands-on opportunity for professional development, insight into American know-how in the field of training and increase their professional marketability. The programme is an excellent way  to prepare for the future in a world that is increasingly dependent upon cooperation and understanding of various cultures.

Nearly 300,000 young men and women from around the world participate in this programme each year !

Who can participate in the programme?

J-1 Visa Trainee program : an applicant with a degree from an university and at least one year of related work experience acquired outside the U.S., OR  if no formal education, then a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience. Age range between 18-30 years. Duration is usually 12 to 18 months.

J-1 Visa Intern  program :  an applicant who is currently a student at college or a recent graduate (less than 12 months from program start date). Age range between 18-30 years. Duration 6 to 12 months.

Summer Work & Travel :  We provide full time (18 to 25 years old) students with a fantastic opportunity to work and experience life in the USA during their summer vacations. We provide fun, entry level placements for adventurous and enterprising students who would like to travel to the USA during their summer vacations, work in the USA and experience a whole new country AND also make some money !  Available for 4 months (May to August) each year.
